How can I use your metallic/iridescent pigments ?

The more important : BEFORE PAINTING or applying the pigments YOU MUST MIX the pigment with the "Fixateur", if you forget this "fixateur" the pigment will not hold after firing !!... There are 2 "fixateurs" : - one for china painting : "fixateur porcelaine" and - one for glass painting : "fixateur Verre"

FOR CHINA PAINTING :

1 - "pigment metallisé" : - 3 parts of pigment + 1 part of porcelain fixator, then add your usuel medium, essence or fat oil and now you can paint - fire at 800° or 850°C if you have applied directly on enamel, or fire at 750°C if you have applied on painted colours.

2 - "pigment interférentiel" :  Carefull, these pigments are very transparents, painted directly on white enamel or pale colours they are almost invisibles, like dragonfly wings. So they are frequently painted on black or dark colours already fired at 850°C.  -3 parts of pigment + 1 part of porcelain fixator, then add your usual oil or essence and you can paint. - Fire  at 750°C. Remember that you must paint these pigments in very thin layer to obtain the most beautiful result.

FOR GLASS PAINTING : It is almost the same...

1 - "pigment métallisé" : 2 parts of pigment + 1 part of glass fixator, add your medium and you can paint. Fire about 580°C with final level during 20 minutes.

2 - "pigment interférentiel" : 3 parts of pigment + 1 part of glass fixator, add your medium and you can paint. Fire about 580°C with final level during 20 minutes. Remember the importance of the dark layer to help brilliant reflections to appear. If you are painting a glass plate, you must paint under the plate, first the pigment and fire, then the dark colour and fire. If you are painting a glass or a vase glass, you must paint first the dark colour and fire, then the pigment and fire.
